Stone of Witness - Red Bird Petroglyph
Stone of Witness - Red Bird Petroglyph

Come and see a mysterious piece of Kentucky history. Known by some as the Stone of Witness and by others as the Red Bird Petroglyph, this 50-ton stone originally overlooked the Red Bird River before it fell onto Highway 66 in 1994. The stone was relocated to a park in Manchester, where anyone curious can see the carvings for themselves. There’s a lot of debate about the meaning of the petroglyphs, as well as who carved them. Judge for yourself, and while you ponder the stone, take a stroll across Goose Creek Swinging Bridge, one of several historic swinging bridges in Clay County. Finally, stop in for a burger or drink at Pat’s Snack Bar.
